NEED IDEAS!!!

I have 4 days to come up with 2 wedding gifts. The couple I intend to give them to are very sweet and dear friends of ours and I want to give them something personal (i.e. I want to make them something)... I mean... anybody can go grab them a Target gift card or run to BBB and grab them some wine glasses from their wedding registry, right?

I've done several Lorelai aprons from the book A is for Aprons, so I may do one of those (maybe w/matching potholders???

That's the only idea I've been able to come up with.

And seriously, these are close friends of ours... husband is a groomsman and oldest & middle daughters are flower girls in their wedding.

So... if you've got/seen a stellar tutorial online w/some amazing homemade wonderful-ness that would be perfect for some superfun abouttobenewlyweds... hit me up with some LINKS!!!!!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

how do you spell relief?

This post is not for the weak stomach-ed.  And, to clear things up.  I'm NOT pregnant.

So, for about the last 6-9 months I've been suffering from severe heartburn.  Not that whole time straight, mind you.  Its very sporadic, not connected to any specific foods, and always at night.  About a month ago, I had my a$$ handed to me one evening when it was severe enough to having me throwing up.  That was not a fun night.  So, I made an appointment with my doctor and he asked me "have you tried prilosec?"  actually, I hadn't.  Even though it is over the counter now, I had kind of felt like 'if antacids don't take care of it, and it's bad enough that I'm throwing up, I think I should go see the doctor.  I'm only 29 for cryin' out loud."  So, he wrote me a prescription for prilosec (its cheaper that way) and sent me on my way.

Now, being one to always try to save money, I didn't actually take it every day, I just waited for the next night when it set in, and then got up and took it.  And that kinda' worked.  Instead of being up for 3 hours waiting for an antacid to kick in, I was only up for an hour.  Cool.  Or not.

About a week ago, I woke up with that twinge in my stomach, went and took my medicine, and nothing happened.  In fact, it got worse.  And I threw up.  Again, and again, and again.  I couldn't keep the medicine, or antacids, or water down.  For about 4 hours straight this went on, and I was beyond miserable.  Words just can't describe how I was feeling.  I pretty much wanted to reach into my chest and pull my heart out.  I did finally manage to force myself to curl up in a ball, take the medicine, and pretty much will myself not to throw up anymore.

The next morning at work my coworkers chastised me on and on for not taking the medicine EVERY DAY, so I've been doing that.  And now, here I am.  It's 2:30 in the morning and I've been awake since 1:00.  I've taken antacids twice now, and I don't know what to do.  Should I go back to my doctor?  Should I start researching super bland grandma diets?  Should I seek the help of someone who does alternative healing?

Has anyone out there in bloggy land ever had anything like this?  I'm desperate.  I kinda need sleep for all of that functioning throughout the day business that I'm expected to do.

Sigh.

help me find....

every once in a while, i stumble up on a blog that i think is so charming and i forget to add it to my favorites list (need to update my links over there--> but i'll have to do that some other time), and this is one of those times.

this blogger is a super cute texas mom w/a video camera. she did a specific blog post having to do with 4 ways to tie a scarf. i wanted to check back in to her blog for some other reason (that i can't recall now) but i don't remember which blog this is.

does this sound familiar to anyone? anyone? beuller? beuller?

I'm a grownup???

I don't know what hit me today, browsing through my list of blogs I like to read, but something struck me... Ever since I got married at the tender age of 22 I've tread on thin ice feeling like I'm still a kid. Even now, I'm the mother of two sweet girls, I'll be celebrating 6 years of marriage (do the math), we've bought our own home, and our finances are sloooowly falling into line, but me? I feel like I have to live my life in fear, asking permission to do every thing, sneaking around to buy myself a skirt on clearance at Target for $3...

I can't remember which of my blogs over there ----> showed where her husband had built a fabulous trellis/planter box thingy. I thought to myself... when will I be grown-up enough that someone will build me a trellis/planter box thingy? Then I thought... wait... I can build my own ding-dang (love that phrase, thanks June!) trellis/planter box thingy. Mine might be a little more modest given it would be my first attempt, but my dad bought me a beautiful plant as a mother's day gift and it needs a bigger place to grow and it needs something to grow up. So, yeah, I think I'll build me a trellis/planter box thingy.

Hmmm... maybe the fact that I keep calling it a trellis/planter box thingy is why I feel like I'm not a grownup.

Ya think?

Oh, btw, dear readers... my latest 'help me find' is a size large (any color) tshirt with reference to the year 1978. That is husband's year of birth, and he's having a party with some of his friends, so I think he needs a 1978 tshirt. It doesn't have to JUST have 1978 on it. It could be a cool vintage band tshirt with reference to their 1978 tour or whatnot. So, if you see anything, are getting rid of something, or whatever, just let me know.

what would you do?

I'm trying to enter the Nester's world of mistreatments. however, I don't want to spend a gazillion dollars to buy a bunch of fabric to cover the monstrosity of windows/sliding doors in my dining/living room area. What's a mom on a budget to do?

Let's see if I have any pictures of the window/door area in question....

so this is before we moved in and were in the midst of painting... so don't mind the mess... yes we still have those awful vertical blinds up because i don't know what to do!!!! they will likely stay up unless i can find super cute super thick super cheap fabric for my mistreatments, because this area faces west which makes it HOT in here w/o them closed (ha ha that sounded like Hot in Here take off my clothes)

this is oldest daughter and neice peering out those yucky blinds

this shows a pretty good shot of what the room looks like now except it was taken 2 christmases ago and its more focused on my mom and she's blinking... professional photographer i am not

my awful living room... HELP!

i'm so lost on how to arrange my furniture in my living room... so i'm seeking input. i 'drew' a rough layout of the room (architecturally speaking) and i'm including a few pictures of the room (note: the furniture in these pictues is NOT mine- i don't have that bad of taste! these are pictures from when we bought the house... oh, and for what its worth we have new carpet, paint, and light fixtures in there too)

help me find...

OK... one more solicitation for comments (at least for this week =)

Once upon a time I found a blog written by a mom (I think) and she mentioned being an Orthodox Christian (I think Greek Orthodox). I specifically remember her writing about how they celebrate Easter at a different time than other Christians.

Has anyone seen this blog? Can you comment me and leave me the link? I'd be forever grateful.
